Recently, the inaugural meeting of the Board of the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center was held in Liyang. Wen Ya, the party secretary and deputy director of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was elected chairman of the Board. Xu Huaqin, mayor of Liyang, and Gu Changzhi, deputy director of the Institute of Physics of the CAS, were elected vice chairmen.
The Board reviewed and approved the Charter of the Board of Directors, the development plan, and so on, and announced the center's site selection and design plan, as well as the renovation plan of the Tianmuhu International Academic Exchange Center.
It is learned that on April 20 this year, the Liyang Municipal Government and the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a contract to establish the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center, which would be jointly funded by the Liyang Government and the Institute of Physics of the CAS. The center was officially established this month. It will focus on the transfer of scientific and technological achievements and cutting-edge technology research and development. It is committed to solving the key technical needs of enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region with regard to energy, information, cutting-edge instruments and intelligent equipment, in order to grow in Liyang a sustainable development competitiveness in science and technology, new energy, high-end manufacturing and other fields. At the same time, the center will actively carry out scientific and technological exchanges, science and education integration, and scientific popularization activities.
