On the afternoon of March 20, Corning Singapore Holdings Pte Ltd. signed an agreement with Changzhou Science and Education Town to establish a new headquarters in Changzhou for Corning’s Advanced-Flow™ Reactors (AFR) business.
Wang Quan, Party Secretary of Changzhou, met with Dr. Gary Calabrese, senior vice president of Corning Corporation, at the Administration Center and witnessed the signing ceremony.
At the meeting, Wang Quan said that the cooperation between Corning and Changzhou has a good foundation. At present, Changzhou is building a high-quality star city for industry, with the need to introduce strategic emerging industries and advanced manufacturing industries. In particular, it needs to cooperate with world-leading companies like Corning to allow advanced technologies and products to be promoted and applied in Changzhou. It is hoped that the two sides will make this project as a new starting point to continuously expand cooperation areas, attract more enterprises and R&D teams to gather in Changzhou, and draw a better blueprint for the future.
Gary Calabrese said that China is the leading global market for continuous flow reactor application technologies. Establishing AFR headquarters in Changzhou enables Corning to more effectively help its customers realize the value AFR technology provides and rapidly expand its business.
As part of the agreement, Corning received support to establish a headquarters and build the infrastructure for the business, including a technology development center and a reactor manufacturing operation in the Changzhou region. The new headquarters is expected to be operational by late 2020 and the manufacturing facility is expected to be complete before the end of this year.
