From October 11 to 14, the 12th China Conference on Thermoelectric Materials and Applications (CCT2020) was held in Liyang, Changzhou.
The conference was sponsored by the Chinese Thermoelectric Society, Chinese Materials Research Society (CTS, C-MRS) and organized by Yangtze River Delta Physics Reseasrch Center, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOPLY). About 600 participants attended the conference, releasing over 340 academic reports. Prof. Zhang Qingjie, Prof. Chen Xianhui of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and other three scholars at home and abroad delivered keynote speeches.
Thermoelectric (TE) technology is regarded as alternative and environmentally friendly technology for harvesting and recovering heat, which has attracted worldwide attention from academic circles and industrial sectors. As China is at the forefront of thermoelectric material research, the CCT 2020 plays an important role in the development of thermoelectric materials and applications.
In recent years, Liyang, selected as one of the six pilot cities of socialist modernization, has attached great importance to strategic emerging industries such as new energy and NEVs. Gathering nearly 50 well-known new energy enterprises, including CATL, SAIC Motor and Shanghai Putailai, the city has shaped an EV battery manufacturing base with the most complete industry chain in China.
Through cooperation with the Institute of Physics, CAS, Southeast University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, a number of high-class research institutes have been established in Liyang to carry out top-notch technology R&D in a wide range of subjects. By doing so, Liyang has emerged into an “innovation highland” featuring profound industrial strength, dynamic research activities and high-tech talents.
