On January 25, a cooperation agreement was signed between Liyang city of Changzhou and Chongqing University to jointly establish a Smart City Institute in Liyang.

Chongqing University (CQU) is a key national university located in Chongqing, southwest China, and a member of the "Excellence League". It is also one of the "Project 211 and Project 985” universities with full support in the construction and development from the central government and the Chongqing Municipal Government. Among its various departments, Chongqing University is especially highly ranked in the Built Environment, Engineering, Technology, and Business disciplines.

Shu Lichun, secretary of CQU’s Party Working Committee, said that Liyang boasts an excellent geographical location, convenient transportation network and booming business environment, which has a promising future for cooperation.

Chongqing University will give full play to its advantages including high-quality programs, talent, technology and alumni, said Zhang Zongyi, president of CQU, adding that the university looks forward to expanding cooperation with Liyang in multiple areas based on the Smart City Institute project.

Liyang’s Party Secretary Xu Huaqin stated that the joint project of CQU Smart City Institute in Liyang, an eco-friendly and innovation-driven place, will not only support CQU’s goal of becoming a world-class university, but also promote Liyang’s progress of building a model city of innovation in the Yangtze River Delta. He believed that the two sides’ cooperation will yield fruitful results.
