Recently, the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced the fourth batch of traditional villages in Jiangsu. Among them are two villages in Changzhou, namely Qingcheng Village and Shi-Chen Village.
Qingcheng Village, with a total area of 5.7 square kilometers, administers 23 natural villages. Located in the northwest of Weicun Sub-District of Xinbei District, it borders two rivers, one to the north and one to the east. It combines rural tourism with industry development, generating sources of income for villagers. A number of programs, including household waste management, environment upgrade and home renovation, have been carried out.
Shi-Chen Village, named after two surnames, is located in Benniu Town. By tapping into fields, rivers, farms and country lanes, it has developed leisure agriculture and rural tourism. In its pursuit of a synchronized development of primary and tertiary sectors, the village has created open and shared water bodies, showcasing a natural and ecological rural landscape. In October 2018, it was listed among Changzhou’s second batch of Beautiful Countryside Demonstration Areas.
