Recently, the Sino-Indian (Changzhou) Economic and Trade Investment Seminar was held in Changzhou, which was the city’s first investment seminar this year.
Approximately 20 enterprises in Changzhou attended the seminar. They consulted with the consuls of the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai on the investment environment, policies and laws.
Since the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, the bilateral trade between Changzhou and India has been developing rapidly. At present, India has become the fifth largest export market of Changzhou and the city’s largest export market among the "Belt and a Road" countries and regions.
As of the end of 2016, a total of 19 Indian-invested enterprises have registered in Changzhou, with overall registered foreign capital of 154 million U.S. dollars and paid-up investment of 79.24 million U.S. dollars, mainly involved in the machinery and electrical machinery industries. Changzhou Enterprises have invested in 8 projects in India with an accumulated investment of 162 million U.S. dollars. The projects mainly include machinery manufacturing, business services, non-ferrous metal processing and rubber products.
