On August 16th, it was informed that the 2016 rankings of national and provincial high-tech zones have been announced respectively by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Department. Wujin National High-Tech Industrial Zone (WIZ) is ranked 54th in the 157 national high-tech zones, up five places over last year, and the first among the national high-tech zones of county-level cities in Jiangsu.
In specified categories, WIZ is ranked 44th in global competitiveness, up 19 places over the previous year; the 53rd in sustainable development capacity, up 16 places; and the 6th in provincial comprehensive ranking, up five places.
In the first half of this year, WIZ achieved GDP growth of 12.6% and high-tech industry output value of 32.3 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5%.
Going forward, WIZ will seize the strategic opportunities in the construction of Sunan National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, accelerate the implementation of innovation-driven development strategy, foster a friendly environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthen the its core competitiveness, and strive to become a first-tier national high-tech zone across the country by 2020.
