Changzhou’s robot industry gets another push. In the morning of July 14th, Yaskawa (China)’s second-phase project was officially unveiled in Wujin National Hi-tech Industrial Zone with a total investment of 45 million US dollars. And the project is expected to be complected and operational by next April. Mayor Ding Chun and Vice Mayor Liang Yibo attended the ground-breaking ceremony.
Yaskawa is a leading robot manufacturer in the world with a big market share. In March 2012, Yaskawa (China) Robot Co., Ltd. was established in Wujin with a total investment of 69.80 million US dollars.As Yaskawa’s first overseas robot factory, Yaskawa (China) specializes in making 6-axial industrial robots. Since its operation in June 2013, the company has reached an annual production capacity of 12,000 units. Its sales revenue last year exceeded 600 million RMB and the sales revenue this year is expected to hit 720 million RMB with a tax contribution of 70 million RMB.
As its market share expands, Yaskawa (China) has introduced new assembly lines like 3C robots. As a result, the existing facilities are no longer sufficient. The second-phase project takes an area of 72 mu and will lift Yaskawa (China)’s production capacity to 18,000 units once fully operational.
