On August 19th, 37 fishery officials, experts and technical staff from 10 African French-speaking countries, including Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Congo and so on, visited Jintan, Changzhou, Jiangsu province to learn from its advanced technology and successful experience of modern fishery services.
Accompanied by relevant experts from the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC), Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), the African delegation visited the demonstration platform of fishery science and technology in Jintan, the Changdang Lake Water Town, etc. Jintan District Bureau of Agriculture and Forestry introduced its supporting policy, technology application and infrastructure construction in the fishing industry.
Most of the African French-speaking countries are located in the sub-Saharan desert, lacking in development of inland waters and coastline; while the growth of fishing industry has become critical for the economic and social development.
The delegation expressed the will to establish long-term cooperation with Changzhou in aquaculture and fisheries.
