From October 29 to 31, Theo Weterings, Mayor of Tilburg, the Netherlands, headed a delegation to Changzhou. On the morning of October 30, Mayor Ding Chun met with the delegation at the Administration Center.
Ding Chun welcomed Theo Weterings, who visited Changzhou for the first time. He said that since Changzhou and Tilburg were twinned in 1997, the exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture and health care have yielded fruitful results. In recent years, the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two cities have become increasingly frequent. He hopes that the two sides will broaden the scope of cooperation and push our cooperative relations to a higher level.
Weterings said that he would like to learn more about the development of Changzhou in various fields and will focus on promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two cities in the field of education.
During their stay in Changzhou, the delegation visited Changzhou Science and Education Town, Changzhou University, Changzhou Institute of Technology, the International Friendship Forest and Canal No. 5.
Vice Mayor Fang Guoqiang and Secretary General Hang Yong were present at the meeting.
Tilburg is a city in the Netherlands, in the southern province of North Brabant. With a population of 214,157 (April 30, 2017), it is the second largest municipality in North Brabant, and the sixth largest in the Netherlands. Tilburg has a high concentration of transportation/distribution industries, specializing in value added logistics and services, due to being the geographical center of the Benelux countries and being located on the transport corridor between Antwerp / Rotterdam and the Ruhr area. The 'Waalwijk-Tilburg' region has been in the logistics hotspots top 3 within the Netherlands for years now and finished 3rd in 2017. Higher education is of significant importance, with Tilburg University attracting scholars from all over the world. It has a student population of about 13,000 students, about 8 per cent of whom are international students. The institution has gained a reputation in both research and education.
