On October 11, Zhejiang University’s College of Electrical Engineering and Changzhou Huaxuan Sensing Technology Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to establish the Huaxuan Future Smart Electric Drive Sensor Joint Laboratory in the Jiangsu Changzhou Economic Zone. This collaboration aims to advance scientific research, nurture talent, promote technological innovation, and accelerate the commercialization of research outcomes.

Founded in 2014, Changzhou Huaxuan is among the few Chinese companies in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector that has successfully developed rotary transformers to replace imported components. Its flagship product, the rotary transformer sensor, now holds over 30% of the domestic automotive market, making it a key supplier to major automakers such as SAIC Motor, Li Auto, and XPeng. The company has also expanded its presence in international markets, including Europe and North America.

"The College of Electrical Engineering at Zhejiang University brings extensive expertise in low-voltage electrical systems," said Zhang Fan, Deputy Director of the joint laboratory. "The lab will be developed in three phases, with an investment of 5 million yuan, and will comprise a 40-member research team from both industry and academia." Zhang emphasized that the lab has established short-, medium-, and long-term goals, focusing on the co-development of next-generation sensors for various applications, including electric drive systems for future NEVs, robotics, and low-altitude aircraft. A key focus will also be on the localization of new sensor chips. Through this close partnership between industry and academia, the initiative aims to cultivate high-level talent and drive innovation in NEV electric drive systems, robotic drive systems, and low-altitude flight technology.

Additionally, the event featured the signing of the second phase of Huaxuan’s new sensor project, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge sensor technology.
