A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson stated on Tuesday that foreign visitors are warmly invited to add China to their travel bucket lists.
Spokesperson Lin Jian made the comments during a daily press briefing, responding to the growing trend of “China Travel” posts, pictures, and videos circulating on overseas social media.
Noting the increasing number of "China Travel" videos shared by foreign internet users, Lin observed that these videos offer a unique glimpse into China’s vibrant, modern cities and the dynamic lives of its people. Some of these foreign visitors have yet to travel to China, while others have already visited multiple times.
In recent months, China has implemented a series of policies to facilitate foreign travel. Lin highlighted that China now enjoys full mutual visa exemptions with 26 countries, and has introduced unilateral visa-free policies for 38 countries, including France and Germany. Additionally, China has adopted a visa-free transit policy for 54 countries and has signed mutual visa-free agreements with 157 countries and regions.
Furthermore, on Tuesday morning, China eased and improved its visa-free transit policy. The permitted stay for eligible foreign travelers has been extended to 240 hours (10 days), up from the previous 72-144 hours. Twenty-one more ports of entry and exit have been added to the list, and foreign nationals traveling under the visa-free transit policy can now travel across provinces within the allowed areas.
"We welcome foreign friends to add China to their travel bucket list, and experience China's time-honored history by visiting heritage sites such as the Great Wall, feast their eyes on natural wonders such as the glinting West Lake, discover the application of cutting-edge technologies, and feel the spirit of humanity embodied in winter dining delights," Lin said.
