On the morning of July 22, the 2019 International EV Battery & Connected Car Safety Summit was held in Wujin National High-Tech Industrial Zone. The summit was jointly organized by Underwriter Laboratories Inc. (UL), China Association for Consumer Products Quality and Safety Promotion, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, and Changzhou Municipal People's Government. About 400 guests from all over the world attended the conference to discuss the safety challenges and development for connected cars. Vice Mayor Liang Yibo attended the event and delivered a speech.
Changzhou is a key equipment manufacturing base in the Yangtze River Delta and an important auto parts industry cluster in Jiangsu province. BAIC, Chehejia, DORCEN, Dongfeng, BYD and other vehicle companies have successively settled in Changzhou, accelerating the conglomeration of auto parts enterprises. Especially in the power battery industry, Changzhou has a comparative advantage in China.
On the same day, the UL Power Battery Testing Laboratory project broke ground in the Wujin High-Tech Zone. It is reported that UL signed an investment agreement with the zone in May 2019. The first phase of the project will include the construction of a power battery testing laboratory with an area of 9,000 square meters, which is scheduled to be put into operation in early 2020.
