Changzhou No. 2 High School marked its 100th anniversary on October 26 with a grand celebration, honoring its rich heritage and reaffirming its commitment to quality education. The milestone event brought together alumni, educators, and community leaders to celebrate the school’s legacy while looking ahead to its future. Among the attendees were Pan Dongling, deputy mayor of Changzhou, and Wan Limei, director of the Municipal Bureau of Education.
The school stands on the historical site of the Academy of Changzhou Prefecture, founded between 756 and 758 during the Tang Dynasty. This prestigious location is often referred to as "A Prefectural Academy with a Thousand-Year Legacy and a Pillar of Knowledge Across Five Dynasties." Formally established as the private Changzhou Junior High School in 1924, the institution was renamed Changzhou No. 2 High School in 1952. It was recognized as a key school in Jiangsu Province in 1996 and awarded four-star status in 2005, earning a reputation for excellence grounded in its philosophy of "cultural foundations and character-building," emphasizing both academic rigor and personal development.
The anniversary celebration featured a “Century of Glory” cultural showcase, with storytelling, poetry recitations, and choral performances that reflected the school’s enduring commitment to educational values and the vibrant spirit of its students and teachers. The performances celebrated the school’s long-standing traditions of dedication, resilience, and ambition, which have become hallmarks of its identity.
