The third Jiangsu Development Summit, with the theme "Love Jiangsu and Build a Dream Together," took place over the weekend and drew more than 1,300 domestic and foreign guests. The summit aimed to gather suggestions and support for the province's development, serving as a vital event organized by the provincial Party committee and provincial government of Jiangsu. Its objective was to create a platform for talent communication and cooperation.

During the first session of the 14th National People's Congress, President Xi Jinping expressed his hope that Jiangsu would continue leading the way in achieving high-quality development and modernization. This declaration further emphasized the significance of the summit. The inaugural summit in May 2017 saw Li Qiang, then secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, stress the importance of leveraging the wisdom and potential of Jiangsu's people to promote the province's development.

At the opening ceremony of the third summit, Xin Changxing, the current secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, outlined the province's vision to become a center for industrial science and technology innovation, an advanced manufacturing base, and a hub for international opening-up, fostering influence and competitiveness on the global stage.

Jiangsu, with a population exceeding 85 million, achieved a record-breaking GDP of 12.29 trillion yuan ($1.78 trillion) last year, accounting for one-tenth of China's total. Its foreign trade volume represented 12.9 percent of the country's overall trade. The first development summit witnessed the signing of 49 industrial projects, while the second summit involved the signing of 126 provincial-level projects, amounting to an investment exceeding 450 billion yuan.

Following the summit held in the provincial capital of Nanjing, the guests were invited to visit 12 other cities in Jiangsu. Changzhou extended invitations to over 50 scholars, business leaders, and representatives to participate in the summit. Distinguished figures such as Dr. Wu Ke, a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech at the Zijin Mountain Science and Technology Forum.
