On the morning of August 22, the Changzhou friendship exchange delegation visited Arad, Romania, and had a meeting with its mayor Gheorghe Falcă.
Falcă introduced the geographical location, education and economic and social development of Arad, especially the sectors of import and export, auto parts manufacturing, agriculture, and oil. In other respects, he expressed his willingness to cooperate with Changzhou in education and agriculture. Shen Lian, the head of the delegation and deputy director of Changzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, introduced the location advantage of Changzhou, the development of tourism and automobile manufacturing, and the interntional publicity program jointly planned by the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Changzhou TV Station -- “A Tale of Two Cities” -- Changzhou citizens visiting the friendship cities, hoping to cooperate with Arad in the fields of culture, tourism and education in the future.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad and the “Vasile Goldis” Western University of Arad to conduct special exchanges on intercollegiate cooperation.
Arad is the capital city of Arad County, historically situated in the region of Crișana, and having recently extended on the left bank of the Mureș river, in Banatregion of western Romania. The city has a population of 159,704, making it the 12th largest city in Romania. Arad is the third largest city in the western part of the country, behind Timișoara and Oradea.
