According to data from Jiangsu’s Smart Culture and Tourism Platform, between 00:00 on October 1, 2024, and 16:00 on October 7, 2024, the province recorded 38,837,400 million tourist visits across 638 A-class scenic spots, 195 key tourism villages at or above the provincial level, 45 nighttime culture and tourism consumption clusters at or above the provincial level, and 84 museums, after eliminating overlapping data. Total tourist spending reached RMB 16.48 billion. On a comparable basis, the daily average for tourist visits and spending saw year-on-year increases of 4.23% and 4.55%, respectively, compared to 2023, and were 26.14% and 26.97% higher than during the same period in 2019.
UnionPay data shows that in the first six days of the National Day holiday, cross-regional culture and tourism consumption through UnionPay channels in Jiangsu totaled RMB 15.35 billion, marking a 2.56% year-on-year increase. This represented 36.97% of the nation’s cross-regional tourism spending and 7.99% of China’s total culture and tourism consumption, keeping Jiangsu in the top spot nationwide. Data from Baidu, Meituan, Tongcheng Travel, and Ctrip confirmed that Jiangsu ranked second in domestic tourist numbers during the holiday, trailing only Guangdong Province.
International roaming data from mobile service providers revealed that during the first six days of the holiday, 47,200 inbound tourist visits were recorded at 259 scenic areas rated 4A or above, reflecting a 26.62% year-on-year increase. Inbound tourism spending totaled RMB 439 million, with per capita spending reaching RMB 16,000.
Nighttime culture and tourism saw significant growth. In the first six days, 45 provincial-level or higher nighttime consumption clusters attracted 9.27 million tourist visits, with total spending reaching RMB 5.14 billion—up 6.67% in visits and 7.34% in spending compared to 2023. Nighttime consumption accounted for 31.15% of total tourist spending, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percentage points.
Additionally, during the first six days of the National Day holiday, orders at 300 star-rated hotels in Jiangsu increased by 18.88% year-on-year, while orders at 70 five-star hotels rose by 15.59%.
