From September 8 to 9, the second China-Latin America Dialogue on Civilization was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. The 12 members of the “Belt & Road” Latin American ambassadors’ delegation attended the seminar and visited ancient town of Menghe, Xinbei, Changzhou on September 9.
The delegation also visited the Xiaohuangshan (Little Yellow Mountain) Tourism Resort and the former residence of Ding Ganren.
Patricia Rodríguez Holkemeyer, Costa Rica’s ambassador to China, said that she is very happy to come to the beautiful Jiangnan. The intangible cultural heritage projects such as the “monkey show” and bonsai are exciting. She believed that with the promotion of the Belt and Road initiative, it will definitely enhance the cultural exchanges and strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Latin America and China.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative. The second China-CELAC Forum held in Santiago, Chile in January officially included the Latin American region into the Belt and Road construction. So far, China has already signed the agreement on joint construction of Belt and Road with eight Latin American countries.
