Experts urge the public to take necessary health precautions, including keeping hands clean and washing hands correctly before meals, after using the toilet and after contact with easily contaminated objects. Fruits and vegetables should be washed before eating. Avoid salads, as vegetables and meat should be cooked thoroughly. It is suggested to peel fruits before eating and use separate cutting boards and knives for cooked and uncooked food. Do not use unboiled tap water or water that has been sitting overnight.

For employers, regular sanitation should be maintained at the workplace. Timely cleaning and disinfection should be reinforced in restrooms. Group activities should be reduced to a minimum. Emphasis should be put on disinfecting tableware and utensils at canteens. Ensure air quality by opening windows more often. Cooked and uncooked dishes should be kept separate, and unused containers should be kept clean and dry. Employees are recommended to dine at staggered hours and keep ample space when queuing and dining.
