On May 7, the Jintan District People’s Government signed an agreement with Nanjing Agricultural University to build the Nanjing Agricultural University (Jintan) Rural Revitalization Research Institute. Chen Ligen, secretary of the CPC Committee of Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), and Ding Yanfeng, vice president of NAU, attended the meeting.
It is learned that the jointly established Rural Revitalization Research Institute will give full play to NAU's department, talent, technology and alumni resources, as well as Jintan's geographical and agricultural advantages. In accordance with the five major functional orientations of industrial planning, product research and development, achievement transformation, project construction and personnel training, the two sides will focus on improving the quality of agricultural products and comprehensive agricultural benefits, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of NAU in Jintan, propel the development and application of such achievements and accelerate Jintan’s overall revitalization of its countryside.
The specific objectives of the institute include: organizing the preparation of relevant plans; setting up a platform for technology innovation of rice, aquatic products and tea industry; focusing on building regional brands such as Jintan standard rice and Changdang Lake hairy crabs; carrying out agricultural training programs, promote “smart farm” projects; and providing support for the construction of national-level agricultural science and technology parks and provincial-level agricultural industrialization bases.
Di Zhiqiang, secretary of the Jintan District Committee of CPC, said that Jintan is a typical "land of fish and rice" and has a strong agricultural heritage. The institute will engage and mobilize the experts and scholars, build a platform for scientific research and development, innovation and entrepreneurship and results display, and serve a wider range of modern agricultural development.
