From October 17 to 18, Pablo Obregon, consul general of Argentina in Shanghai, together with deputy consul general Esteban Pronato, tourism consul Virginia Yapur and education consul Victoria Armayor, led a 14-member delegation to Changzhou and co-hosted the Argentina - Changzhou Cultural Day with the Municipal Government.
On the morning of the 17th, the opening ceremony and tourism promotion conference of the Cultural Day was held at the Sheraton Changzhou Xinbei Hotel. Deputy mayor Chen Zhengchun attended the event and delivered a speech. He said that Changzhou has always attached importance to cultural exchanges and cooperation. The event provided Changzhou citizens with an opportunity to learn about Argentine culture and art, as well as a platform for mutual understanding between the two sides. He hopes that in the future, Changzhou will have more opportunities to cooperate with the Consulate General of Argentina in Shanghai and organize various types of people-to-people exchange activities, in order to deepen friendship and achieve win-win development.
Pablo Obregon pointed out in his speech that the event attracted all the consuls of the Argentine Consulate General in Shanghai to come to Changzhou this time. He hopes to cooperate with Changzhou in various fields such as tourism, education, sports and culture. At the tourism promotion conference, Virginia Yapur made a presentation for tourism promotion, showing the special products and traditional dance of Argentina. Representatives from nearly 20 tourism agencies in the city attended the conference. Shen Lian, deputy director of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, presided over the conference. Du Jibin, director of the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and Zhang Lixin, deputy director of the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio & Television and Tourism, attended the event.
During the Cultural Day, the tango dancers of the delegation visited Changzhou Art Vocational College of Jiangsu Province and carried out tango art exchange with the students. The football coaches of the delegation visited the training camp of Changzhou Diaozhuang Central Primary School and participated in the training for the camp’s over 60 teen football players. The delegation also made a special trip to the West Taihu Campus of Changzhou University to award the winning students of the short story contest Our Stories Across the World. In addition, Victoria Armayor gave a lecture on Argentine culture for the Spanish-speaking students on the campus.
