The finals of the 2024 Grand Canal Cycling Series took place on December 1 at the picturesque Caoshan Tourism Resort in Liyang, Changzhou, drawing cycling enthusiasts from across the country. Co-hosted by the Jiangsu Administration of Sports, the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and the Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, the event celebrated the intersection of sports and the scenic beauty of the Grand Canal.
With the theme "Cycling the Canal, Unveiling New Trails," the competition included four main categories: Men’s Elite Road Race, Women’s Road Race, Men’s Masters Road Race, and Men’s Mountain Bike Race. Approximately 500 cyclists from cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin, as well as provinces including Anhui and Zhejiang, participated. Impressively, over 40% of the competitors were from outside Jiangsu province, reflecting the event's growing national appeal.
The race route showcased the charm of Liyang’s countryside, passing notable sites like Niumatang Village, the Sihai Fishing Resort, the Caoshan Agricultural Hub, and the Palm Bay Camping Site. This blend of competitive cycling and stunning landscapes provided an unforgettable experience for both participants and onlookers.
