China will conduct a nationwide population sample survey in 2025 to monitor demographic trends, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Beginning November 1, 2025, the survey will include 14 million people from approximately five million households, representing about 1 percent of the national population. Participants will be asked for information on age, gender, education level, marital status, and housing conditions.
Since its inaugural survey in 1987, China has completed four population sample surveys to date.
