The Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office has released its latest rankings for patent grants in the first half of the year, revealing that Changzhou has outperformed other cities in the province. Four companies from SVOLT Energy Technology, CALB Group, Changzhou Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems, and Trina Solar—have secured top positions on the list, making Changzhou the city with the most entries.

The statistics show that these companies have been granted 519, 358, 302, and 230 patents respectively, placing them second, third, fourth, and sixth in the overall provincial ranking.

Tang Yan, Director of Intellectual Property at Xingyu, highlighted the impact of the booming electric vehicle industry and the intensifying global competition. "These factors have accelerated our company's technological innovations across the entire supply chain," she noted. Of the 302 patents granted to Xingyu in the first half of the year, 137 are high-value invention patents, ranking the company second among the top ten.

Trina Solar, a global leader in the photovoltaic industry, continues to strengthen its intellectual property portfolio. Ma Jun, the company's Global Director of Intellectual Property, reported that Trina Solar has filed over 5,000 patent applications worldwide, laying a strong foundation for extensive patent protection.

The Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office has been publishing monthly lists of the top ten companies in patent grants throughout the year, with Changzhou consistently seeing three to four companies featured, particularly in the new energy sector.

"Enhancing our patent strategy is crucial for safeguarding innovation," said Ding Qingfeng, Deputy Director of Changzhou Intellectual Property Office. He pointed out that the dominance of new energy companies in patent grants is closely tied to the industry's innovation demands. In the first half of the year, Changzhou's new energy sector saw 2,725 patents granted, including a 23.95% year-on-year increase in invention patents. By the end of June, the city held 6,588 valid invention patents in the new energy industry, marking a 38.43% increase compared to the previous year.
