On October 31, Dominic Barton, Canada’s ambassador to China, and his delegation visited Wujin and the New United Group. Li Lin, vice mayor of Changzhou and secretary of the CPC Wujin District Committee, met with the Canadian delegation. Xu Zhiguo, deputy head of Wujin District, attended the meeting.
Li Lin warmly welcomed the arrival of the delegation and introduced the economic and social development of Changzhou to the guests. He also invited ambassador Barton to visit Changzhou again in the near future.
Dominic Barton expressed gratitude to Li Lin and the New United Group for their hospitality. He said that beautiful city of Changzhou has left a very good impression on his delegation. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada. He believes that the friendship between China and Canada will last as long as the 2,500-year written history of Changzhou and even longer. In particular, he looks forward to the future cooperation and further exchanges with Changzhou.
